*Red Willow is one of the most commonly used plants used by the Northern Arapaho people. This multipurpose willow can be found near rivers and lakes that were used by the tribe for medicine, technology, and building material. The pliable and sturdy qualities of the red willow made it an ideal material for sweat lodge frames, arrow shafts, bed frames and everyday use. This willow was also used for ceremonial practices. The bark of the red willow contains salicin which is the active ingredients used in aspirin today. The red willow had great significance to the Northern Arapaho Tribe and is still intertwined in the Arapaho culture today*
